What do you do when your home needs new life? Why, head to Buenos Aires Design, of course!
With 100 shops spread over three floors, this high-end mall in Buenos Aires is dedicated to every aspect of home design: from the right faucet fittings and flooring to elegant furnishings and decorative objects. (For clothing, head somewhere else, like Alto Palermo: Buenos Aires Design is all about the home.)

While there are a number of cute shops selling homewares and furniture to be found in the Argentine capital, there is definitely something to be said for Buenos Aires Design being open seven days a week and bringing many of them under the same roof. An elegant roof, too.
Located where Libertador Avenue and Pueyrredon Avenue meet in the charming Recoleta neighborhood, Buenos Aires Design is found next to green Plaza Francia, where an artisans market is held on the weekends; pretty Pilar Church; and the fascinating La Recoleta Cemetery. This cemetery, with its dense maze of gorgeous vaults and mausoleums, is the resting place of many of Argentina’s important figures and is one of the most beautiful cemeteries in the world besides. It should not be missed.
Unless you're renovating a home in Buenos Aires – which can be done, as the home prices can be quite reasonable for a capital city – or you're big on idea gathering or window shopping, what will probably be of most interest is the shops selling chic homewares and small decorative objects, many of which can fit into a suitcase.
While you're here, you might as well go on and enjoy a glass of wine or a meal at one of Buenos Aires Design’s restaurants, located on the middle floor. Some of them have space on the large outdoor terrace, making the view and al fresco dining option a treat when the weather is nice.
In addition to the shops and restaurants, the Buenos Aires Design mall complex has an auditorium, where Fuerza Bruta (a unique Argentine show featuring music, dance and aerial performances) has regularly played. Fuerza Bruta has been compared to Cirque de Soleil, but the comparison is more superficial; the show is a particularly Argentine experience.
While Buenos Aires Design offers parking onsite, it's easy to find a taxi, and there are numerous bus connections nearby. Buenos Aires Design also offers free shuttles to area hotels. Ask your hotel to set it up, or call 5777-6027 when you're in town.
