If you've been meaning to try some new restaurants around Phoenix, Tempe or Scottsdale, you could spend lots of time and money sampling dozens of local restaurants over the course of several months.

The $5 Food Festival, which is scheduled for Saturday, April 23rd at Tempe Diablo Stadium from 12 pm to 7 pm, features dozens of local food vendors, cooking up some of your favorite dishes all day long.
As its name implies, admission into the festival is only $5, but only if you buy your tickets in advance online. General admission at the gate goes up to $10 on the day of the festival.
There is also a VIP ticket option for $10 in advance (the price goes up to $15 on the Wednesday prior to the event date). The VIP admission gives you early access into the event and guaranteed access to food. Children under the age of five get into the event for free.
The goal of the festival is to expose festival goers to new restaurants, chefs and food trucks in their area. Unlike other food festivals, you won't have to worry about overpaying for food and drink.
Once you've made it into the festival, you'll find dozens of food trucks, all serving dishes priced at $5. In order to keep the ordering process streamlined, food vendors are only allowed to make a single dish all day.
The cuisine is designed to be varied, so you'll find everything from pizza to burger sliders to Mexican food to dessert treats. Of course, with a thriving food truck scene in the Valley, you'll find plenty of unique and hybrid food options, too.
In addition to food, the festival typically offers several craft beer options, along with a full bar, and plenty of soda and water. You can find a full list of all the food and drink vendors on the $5 Food Festival website a few days before the event date.
The $5 Food Festival is a nationally touring food festival company that seeks to connect some of the best local food vendors in your area with hungry foodies. Apart from Tempe, the $5 Food Festival is making several other stops around Arizona, as well as other parts of the country.
Mark your calendars, put on your stretchiest pants and get ready to eat local – one $5 plate at a time.
