Blanco Tacos + Tequila is the brainchild of Phoenix-based Fox Restaurant Concepts, which has opened three other locations around the state, including one in Scottsdale, Tucson and the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. If you haven't had a chance to try Blanco yet, a new location just set up shop at the posh Biltmore Fashion Park. It'll serve lunch and dinner in the heart of Phoenix's bustling midtown business district.

Don't expect greasy or run-of-the-mill tacos at Blanco's. The menu has a gourmet sensibility, using fresh ingredients and uncommon pairings for out-of-this-world flavor profiles.
For starters, try the popular house guacamole. It's not your average tableside guac made with avocados, cilantro and a splash of lemon. This guacamole is a creamy, zesty dip made with roasted poblano and Anaheim chiles, caramelized onion and a generous sprinkling of cotija cheese.
The entree menu is a good option if you're craving hearty, traditional fare. Try the chicken mole with vegetable arroz. The chicken is slow braised and served with a complex, savory mole sauce and side of vegetable rice with calabacitas (Mexican zucchini).
If you want classic American comfort food with a Southwest kick, then opt for the Blanco Burger. The oversized hamburger patty is topped with a special Blanco cheese blend, bacon, guacamole, pico de gallo and the house chipotle mayo.

Of course, most folks come to Blanco's for the selection of gourmet tacos. It's hard to go wrong with the traditional carnitas tacos. These savory pulled pork tacos are slow cooked and topped with an array of fresh condiments, including chopped white onion, cilantro, salsa verde and a squeeze of lime juice.
Another good option is the award-winning slow cooked barbecue pork tacos. They're stuffed with juicy barbecue pork, roasted corn and tomato slaw, pickled onions and crema fresca.
Tequila lovers will want to sample the drink menu, which is full of tasty, hand-crafted margaritas and Mexico-inspired cocktails. The classic margaritas are a winner, but for a fresh take on this classic drink, try the blood orange margarita, which is made with Sauza Silver, Grand Marnier Float and fresh blood orange juice.
For a margarita with a zesty kick, try the mango jalapeño margarita. It's made with a special jalapeño-infused tequila, mango and a splash of fresh lime juice.
