For serious fashionistas with an eye toward high-end design, Scottsdale is a dream city.

In downtown Scottsdale, the Scottsdale Fashion Square (the biggest shopping mall in Arizona) is home to brands like Barney's, Prada, Armani, Jimmy Choo, Carolina Herrera and other top names in fashion.

In north Scottsdale, the Scottsdale Quarter has become the city's other top purveyor of high-end retail. The latest fashion find at the Scottsdale Quarter is Joie, a Southern California-based retail chain that's making its Arizona debut in Scottsdale.

Joie – which means "joy" in French – specializes in casual yet chic apparel for the modern woman. The brand first became well-known in the fashion world for it signature Joie cargos.

Over the years, the Joie brand has grown, earning a loyal following for its laid-back, bohemian-inspired collection of ready-to-wear clothing and accessories.

The Joie signature style incorporates elements of vintage fashion, Southern California-inspired beachwear and globally inspired patterns and colors.

Shoppers at the Scottsdale location of Joie will find a large assortment of dresses, tops, bottoms and shoes, as well as a wide range of accessories like handbags, belts, scarves and jewelry.

The shop also carries a selection of beauty products, including designer lotions and fragrances.

The apparel at Joie is divided into collections. You'll find wardrobe staples like basic tops, shorts and pants in their "Essentials" collection. There's also a "Soft Joie" collection stocked with earthy sweaters, rompers and dresses.

For jet-setters and globetrotters, there's "The Getaway Shop," a special collection of ready-to-wear clothes designed to look good everywhere you go. Pieces from the collection include comfy walking sneakers, strappy leather sandals, flowing tunics, maxi dresses and rompers.

Joie also offers an expansive shoe department, where you can find everything from fashionable suede ankle boots to strappy, sling-back high heels. More casual options include Huxley sneakers and sandals.

Part of the fun of visiting a Joie boutique is the store ambiance. The store features a clean, airy design accented with luxurious decor touches like chandeliers, plush seating, greenery, floral displays and beautifully styled display tables and shelves.

The vibe is a bit Paris meets Los Angeles – a marriage of sophistication and modern style.

The Scottsdale location of Joie is one of only 12 brick-and-mortar boutique locations in the United States, and it's the only one in all of Arizona. Other stores include five locations in California, three in New York City, two in Connecticut and one in Boston.
