Scottsdale is famous for its nightlife, and one recently added late-night party destination should help cement the city's reputation as "Party Capital of the Southwest."
Livewire – a sprawling two-story nightclub located in the city's downtown entertainment district – brings together live music, dancing and mixology in one state-of-the-art venue. The club features a large dance floor, two bars, an outdoor patio, VIP rooms and a private green room.

This nightclub takes the space formerly occupied by Axis/Radius, which was one of the city's longest running dance clubs. The property has been fully renovated, with a state-of-the-art Anya sound system – the same kind used at major music festivals like Coachella – and decked out in vintage glam decor.
Unlike most nightlife venues in Scottsdale, which consist mainly of "danceterias" and bars, Livewire was primarily designed for live music events. The 14,000-square-foot space features a built-in stage that can be expanded to accommodate both small and larger bands.
Behind the stage, a massive 25-foot LED wall projects videos for a vibrant multi-sensory experience. There's even a space designated for band merchandise and post-show meet and greets. The second level of the club features a recessed VIP section that gives guests an eagle's-eye view of the dance floor and the stage, as well as a full bar.
Some of the unique design elements at Livewire include a grand staircase and glittering chandelier, lending the club a fun, retro ambiance. Wrought iron fixtures, tufted seating and a proscenium arch that rings the stage add to the club's vintage flair. There's also a large three-sided mezzanine with sweeping views of the dance floor.
The venue, which has a capacity for more than 1,100 guests, plays host to all genres of performers, from country folk to indie rock and metal. A sampling of acts that have graced the stage at Livewire so far include actor and musician Jeff Bridges, ska pioneers The English Beat and electro-house legend Steve Aoki.
Livewire also plans to feature comedy shows and to host some of the world's top club DJs and EDM (electronic dance music) acts.
Most shows at Livewire are general admission, standing-room-only events. However, there are a limited number of VIP boxes with bottle service available for some shows. Most shows are also for all ages, unless otherwise noted.
Unlike many other downtown Scottsdale nightlife venues, there's no dress code at Livewire. But most guests dress to the nines anyway, making this another good spot to enjoy late-night music, dancing and people watching.
