Renegade by MOD is a relaunch of the former Renegade Tap and Kitchen. The new incarnation of the restaurant features a decidedly urban and street-wise vibe, with graffiti mural walls by local artist Lalo Cota, a new live-music stage and street art installations on display throughout the restaurant. The restaurant also features a sleek open-air patio. But nothing stands out more than the menu, which includes a diverse selection of creatively imagined small warmed plates, small chilled plates and big plates.
Standouts include venison lollipops dusted with dry mole, the goblet of greens with wild ramps and candied pecans, and the re-imagined panzanella composition. Other unique dishes include the twisted ramen noodles scented with lobster miso, which has an extensive ingredient list that includes foie gras, quail egg, lobster knuckles, truffles, enoki, pea shoots, edamame and more. For dessert, the moon pie with an RC Cola anglaise seems destined to become a house favorite.
