This family-owned island grill and beach bar is situated on one of the gorgeous beaches along the L.G. Smith Boulevard, called Governor’s Bay. (The Governor’s house is right across the street.) Being part of Aruba's buzzing Linear Park, The West Deck embraces the calming views of the ocean, where cruise ships and yachts sail by, airplanes descend for landing and fishing boats anchor in clear blue water.
No wonder that The West Deck is a major draw for all types of downtowners: local joggers, strolling tourists, thirsty shoppers, cruise ship passengers looking for a welcoming snack or pre-boarding cocktail . . . There is a table for everyone on this large wooden deck.

The concept of presenting a varied menu of appetizer-sized dishes, a list of creative cocktails and ice-cold beers - combined with a top location downtown and the most attentive staff - makes The West Deck a surprising discovery that many would like to keep as a secret to themselves.
But, don’t worry. There is no need to be left out. Unravel the mystery by simply finding your way onto The West Deck before leaving the island (preferably way before, in case the need to repeat the occasion arises).
Whether the sun is reaching its highest point at noon or disappearing gloriously below the horizon, it shouldn’t be celebrated without a refreshing beer-rita, mojito, piña colada or an ice-cold Chill (locally brewed light beer) out of the bucket. To enhance the Caribbean experience, The West Deck is known for bringing favorite small plates like Conch Fritters and Island Coconut Shrimps to the table.
Also, the Tenderloin and Plantain Pinchos, the local specialty Keshi Yena and the Red Snapper have their faithful orderers.
Whatever the plan is - sharing plates or choosing your own entrees, having some drinks or only dessert, going for lunch or dinner - The West Deck is the perfect place to find out more about the meaning of island life. Aruba is happening all around here. So feel free to come and taste, feel, hear, smell and observe what’s going on.
Come meet the wonderful patrons (Anabela, Robby and Roanne Peterson), staff and clientele of this delightful establishment in the midst of the hubbub of Oranjestad.
For the ones looking for a more intimate corner to enjoy the same spectacular surroundings, beers, booze and bites: just take off those sneakers and sandals and step into the soft sand of Governor’s Beach to find The West Deck’s special picnic areas below.
