West Los Angeles welcomes Plan Check Kitchen + Bar, a hip new gastropub, to its “Little Osaka” neighborhood, known mostly for its Asian-fusion cuisine and Hello Kitty souvenirs. Chef Ernesto Uchimura, formerly of Umami Burger fame, joins forces with owner Terry Heller to bring small, tasty bites and handcrafted cocktails and beer to the Westside. Situated next to the Building and Safety Department, Plan Check draws architectural inspiration and moniker from its industrial neighbor, which sees a healthy rotation of engineers, architects, and developers through its creative doors.

Favorites include the PCB Plan Check Burger, a hearty cheeseburger with onions and pickles, and fried chicken sandwich with duck ham and pimento cheese.
