The original Loteria! Grill, this Mexican taco stand located in the heart of the Original Farmer's Market near the Grove is the first of Jimmy Shaw's burgeoning Loteria! empire. He now boasts six grills all around town, many of which are full-blown restaurants. But whether you're at this little stand or one of his sit-down spots, you'll always find delicious, authentic Mexican fare. Well-stuffed burritos packed with beef, chicken, shrimp or pork are just the beginning – try the albondigas (meatballs) in smoky chipotle sauce, tacos topped with zucchini and succotash or a huge platter of enchiladas. Lime-aid, watermelon juice, and even hibiscus flower tea help wash it all down here at the Farmer's Market; order a margarita, cerveza or other specialty cocktails at the Hollywood, Santa Monica, Studio City or Westlake Village outposts.
- Mexican: "Try their signature Probaditas, a mini-taco sampler of their signature guisos (stews)."
- Best for Mexican Because: Chef Jimmy Shaw is the consummate chef, using authentic, fresh ingredients to make memorable dishes, just like he learned growing up in Mexico City.
