The thought is so alluring--it would be so lovely to leave behind traffic and crowds and move to wine country where the air is fresh, the sky is blue, you can get your hands in the soil and the wine flows like water. For some, the fantasy could become reality. For everyone else, 10 Best suggests spending a night at a winery in Sonoma for a similar, less committal experience.
Soda Rock Winery in Sonoma's Alexander Valley recently remodeled their three king suites, creating even more space than the previously available water tower suite. All the rooms are steps from the vineyards, have full-sized, marble-countered kitchens and luxurious bathrooms. The linens are crisp and white, and the whole experience is low-key and authentic. Each of the rooms has great views of the vineyards, especially the water tower suite, given its high vantage point.

Like many wineries in Napa, if you join their wine club, Soda Rock will send you bottles of wine throughout the year. In addition, wine club members can enjoy a discounted rate on their rooms and are even entitled to stay for a week or longer. There's no better way to get an authentic wine country experience, while maybe still keeping your city life in tact.
