With the sun shining and the temperatures warm in Palm Springs, who wants to shop indoors? Spring is the perfect time to hit up the Coachella Valley's outdoor markets for fresh produce, one-of-a-kind knickknacks and other local wares.
The newest outdoor market in the desert is the Palm Springs Open Air Market, held in the Spa Resort Casino parking lot. Every Saturday and Sunday morning from 9 am - 2:30 pm, more than 100 vendors fill the parking lot with their tent-covered offerings, including fresh produce, artwork, jewelry and home decor. The market offers more than shopping, though. You'll also enjoy live entertainment by local musicians, and with raffles held every weekend, you have a shot to win a souvenir. Food vendors are also onsite, so come hungry.

Looking for fresh produce? You're in luck, because no matter where you are throughout the Coachella Valley, there's a farmer's market near you. The Certified Farmer's Market, open from 8 am - 12:30 pm, is held in the Camelot Theatre's parking lot in Palm Springs on Saturdays and in Old Town La Quinta on Sundays.
A second Sunday market is held in downtown Coachella, and on Wednesdays, the market heads to the Chamber of Commerce parking lot in Palm Desert. Bring your reusable bags and stock up on the freshest produce the desert has to offer.
