Are you an adrenaline junkie who lives for a little thrill in your vacations? Or are you looking for an out-of-the-ordinary way to enjoy your Palm Springs getaway? If so, you're not going to want to miss the desert's newest attraction: Xceleration Indoor Kart Racing.

Opened in 2013, Xceleration Indoor Kart Racing in Cathedral City is the desert's first indoor racing facility, offering a fleet of emissions-free electric race karts, a quarter-mile track and plenty of good-natured competition. A "single race" includes 12 laps around the quarter-mile track. With each lap taking around 25 seconds on average, you can expect a race to last about 5-6 minutes. The course doesn't offer much in the way of straightaways either, so this track is sure to keep you on your toes with every turn.

After deciding on your race package, you'll get the lowdown on race safety before donning your helmet and climbing into one of the electric karts. While the races are meant to be fun, safety is also a priority. Translation? No bumper cars.
Once your group is ready to rock, the trained track official will wave the green flag and you'll be free to put your pedal to the metal, zipping around sharp turns while trying to keep in first place.
After your laps, you'll receive a printout with your lap times and overall rank. You'll also be able to see how you compare to Xceleration's top racers, giving those with a competitive streak plenty of reason to return to the race track.
Ready to ride? Xceleration is open seven days a week, so be sure to drop by the next time you're in Palm Springs.
