Leatherby's offers a bonanza of rich, mouthwatering desserts. Banana splits, ice cream sundaes, pies piled high with clouds of meringue, and rich, moist cakes can all be had. Their secret? Homemade ice cream churned daily in the onsite creamery and featuring the best ingredients available – caramel, pineapple, vanilla, and fresh cream. You can even watch the process from the beginning to the ultimate end. A bit of heaven for folks with a sweet tooth. A deli also offers sandwiches, burgers, salads, and chicken dishes.
A good place for freshly brewed coffee and a slice of cake at the end of the day, Capitol Garage also offers live music several nights a week. With Guinness on tap and plenty of mixed drinks, it's especially popular with local musicians and has open jazz jams during the week.
Harlow's is as unique today as when it first opened. The waitstaff is opinionated enough to let you know what to order and what to pass on. Pumpkin cheesecake atop pecan caramel sauce, and the house specialty – Tuoca cheesecake made with ricotta cheese and fresh blueberries – are two great options. With an extensive cigar bar, outdoor seating, and some of the area's top jazz, Harlow's is a great place to spend the evening. Soak up the relaxed ambience, watch the upscale crowd, and sip a brandy or cognac while you listen to music. Performers offer anything from traditional jazz to R&B, salsa, or reggae.
Tucked away inconspicuously, this jewel of a restaurant serves Thai and Vietnamese cuisine. However, you might also be surprised to learn that Lemon Grass serves fabulous desserts like "Saigon by Night" (a rich concoction of Vietnamese espresso, hazelnut syrup, vanilla ice cream, and whipped cream), homemade Australian ginger ice cream bathed in Grand Marnier, and banana cheesecake with warm coconut sauce. Reservations are recommended.
