Vin de Syrah is a notable gem in the Gaslamp Quarter popular with both San Diego residents and tourists for their extensive, reasonably-priced wine menu. However, it's not just about the wine. The ambiance is killer, but first you have to find the door. And, we won't be giving that away here on 10Best.

Once inside, your eyes will gravitate toward walls full of greenery, botanical chandeliers, thick 50-year-old wine vines, a 12-foot natural wood tasting table, and plush sitting rooms. It's dimly lit, with a long bar where patrons order drinks or nibble on amazing cheese platters prepared at the charcuterie station. Go online to see when live music is playing, as they've got everything from jazz to DJs on tap.

Private events are frequently booked at Vin de Syrah by both San Diego residents and businesses. There's a sound system around that long, wood tasting table where a sommelier can walk you through several different wines, paired with cheeses, for a very reasonable price. Call for specifics.

It doesn't matter whether your wine knowledge is sophisticated or novice, Vin de Syrah appeals to most wine enthusiasts because of the overall experience.
