West Inn & Suites in Carlsbad has added another perk to its already long list of offerings catered toward families visiting San Diego with pets. In the event dog that food was accidentally omitted from the packing list or your four-legged traveler deserves a special hotel treat, Canine Cuisine arrives to your room within around 20 minutes with your pet's meal.

Canine Cuisine is a special room service menu with a dog's diet in mind. Offerings range from beef to vegetarian, and they are made-to-order in the hotel's popular Bistro West restaurant. Treats for your pet include the following:
German Shepherd Pie: Chopped meatloaf, jasmine rice, baby carrots and veal stock
Chicken Chow: Deboned rotisserie chicken, fresh vegetables, couscous and chicken stock
Hound Burger: Mixed vegetable burger, rice, shredded carrots, fingerling potatoes and iceberg lettuce cups
Where's the Beef?: Chopped juicy beef burger (You can swap for bison or filet, if desired.), bacon, cheddar cheese and mashed potatoes
Sounds pretty good, doesn't it? Canine Cuisine is available Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 1:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A minimum in-room dining order of $20 is required, which is easy, as there's a delectable human menu to select from, too. Canine Cuisine meals range from $9.95 to $23.95 (for the doggie filet mignon) and vary in size, just as dogs do.
However, if you'd like to enjoy a meal outside of the hotel room, Bistro West has a lovely pet-friendly patio where the dog can chill out while you enjoy the class of wine and gourmet favorites such as ahi tartare. Produce for the extensive seasonal menu is supplied by an extensive garden just a few miles away for a true farm-to-table experience. Kids color the menu and nosh on specially made favorites for them.
Before bed, take a stroll in the dog park across the street (where there's a doggie drinking fountain), or cruise the big, grassy dog run on the side of the hotel. Kids will also love both, so bring them along.

Pet owners love West Inn & Suites because of its stylish rooms and comfortable amenities, including many that aren't usually free of charge at most hotels. Being able to park for free near your room is handy, especially with a family including a pet in tow. A buffet breakfast is included in the room rate (no pets allowed, as it's located in a dining area inside the hotel), as is WiFi.
There aren't any restrictions on the size of canine guests, but the hotel does ask that pets aren't left inside of a room unattended. The latter shouldn't be a problem, considering all there is to do with your dog around this lovely (and pet-friendly) boutique hotel.
