The LOT, a new luxury entertainment destination, opened its first location in San Diego's La Jolla community with hopes of becoming the area's go-to for dining and entertainment. It occupies the space of the former Jonathan's market and is expected to offer the most premium movie-going experience in San Diego.

The LOT is a luxury cinema with seven auditoriums featuring the latest in comfort, audio-visual and cinematic technology. In addition, guests can dine in and enjoy craft cocktails. A full-fledged restaurant can seat up to 110 and is led by acclaimed San Diego Chef Matt Sramek, formerly of Avant at the Rancho Bernardo Inn and Amaya at The Grand Del Mar.

The menu features a wide selection of Mediterranean and Mexican-inspired dishes such as yellowfin tuna tartare with radish, pickled fresno chili, avocado and charred lime. A variety of Mediterranean flatbreads including roasted mushroom, Spanish chorizo and fava bean, and chickpea falafel pair well with inventive large plates such as the crispy mediterranean branzino.

There is also a craft cafe with Chef Alejandra Pitashny at the helm. Here, guests can enjoy locally sourced and roasted coffees as well as delicious, housemade pastries.

And, just in case you were worried, drink and food service is also available at your movie theater seat.

“THE LOT will be a community hub, a place to grab a morning coffee, enjoy a full dinner, or catch the latest Hollywood blockbuster,” said Adolfo Fastlicht, owner and chief executive officer, THE LOT La Jolla / Backlot Hospitality.

“It’s a special place with uniquely curated experiences – from the restaurant menu and the locally sourced coffees, wines and beers we’ve hand-selected, to the local art and leading-edge cinematic and sound technology we’ve installed – THE LOT is a place created specially for La Jolla and San Diego,” he said.

THE LOT La Jolla café opens at 6:30 am daily and serves breakfast, coffee and a vast selection of baked-fresh-daily pastries. THE LOT La Jolla restaurant and bar is open for lunch, dinner and after-dinner service daily. Movie screenings begin at approximately 11 am, with final screenings daily at approximately 11:30 pm.

Reservations for dining and movies can be made online. Valet parking for customers is available on Fay Avenue.

Those wishing to come for the evening can make a dinner reservation, see a movie and then enjoy craft cocktails late into the night. La Jolla does not have many nightlife spots and residents have high hopes that The LOT will change this.
