The name FLUXX is appropriate for what is widely regarded as San Diego's leading nightclub. Themes are constantly evolving at this hip hotspot, with radical changes happening every few months to keep fans returning again and again. And by radical we mean that the entire nightclub decor changes from top to bottom, including employee uniforms, performances, drinks and more.
Themes are visualized by in-house Creative Director Anna Watson Sindela, who keeps up with the latest trends from Pinterest, fashion magazines, movies and more. Past themes have included the following:
- Aquatic: An underwater utopia where life-sized coral reefs, iridescent jelly fish, projections of oceanic scenes and a large-scale live aquarium played host to FLUXX "Mermaids."
- Sweet Shoppe: A life-sized Candyland featured addicting confections, including a 12-foot gumball machine that dancers performed in.
- Acade: This theme tapped into the nostalgia of old-school video games, taking party-goers through Space Invaders, Donkey Kong and more.
The new theme set to launch Aug. 1, 2014, is called FLUXX BIONIC, a futuristic theme full of eye-popping lights and dichroic surfaces. It will blast partygoers into the future, showcasing a giant mirror origami, electroluminescent matrixes, geometric visuals and an LED extravagance. The centerpiece of BIONIC will be a “Pleasure Pod," an enticing bionic flower sculpture that blooms on cue. Dancers will also be outfitted as bionic soldiers of the future, complete with custom molded chest armor.

What doesn't change is the dramatic entry into the nightclub via a 13-foot tunnel, which then reveals the main bar and views of the entire venue, including the central large circular dance floor. Throughout the night, an integrated Cryogen Liquid Nitrogen system produces a cloud dubbed "FLUXX heaven" that stays low on the dance floor and chills those on it from head to toe.
Of course, high-tech mood lighting can be choreographed to music played through an intense sound system. The world's most talented DJs and dancers perform on recessed mini-stages, and there isn't a bad seat in the house.
Bottle services also change with each theme, and the delivery is quite a show. From a crazy-looking robot to an oversized stuffed tiger, whatever the delivery mechanism is, it can carry even a Nebuchadnezzar (15-liter) bottle of wine to VIP tables.
FLUXX has earned a repeat VIP clientele through these creative high-end experiences. And a number of celebrities - Ashton Kutcher, Kellan Lutz, LeBron James, Lindsay Lohan and more - have been seen rolling VIP at FLUXX.
Kick off the evening by dining at FLUXX between 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., also a sensory experience. FLUXX uses local and organic produce whenever possible, as well as sustainable seafood and 100% naturally raised meats. Marinades and sauces are made in-house. The standard FLUXX cover charge of $20 applies to your dining bill, should you choose to stay and party.
Wondering what to wear to FLUXX? Stylish attire is required, which means no ball caps, shorts, athletic wear, sandals or baggy clothing permitted.
FLUXX's management team is the best in the business, drawing on experience in top nightlife cities, and it shows: FLUXX is constantly showered with public and industry recognition nationwide.
