Iberico Bistro Offers Spanish Food, La Jolla's First Gin Club

Stop into Iberico for an interesting mix of Spanish tapas and fancy gin drinks

The space on Prospect Street formerly occupied by Vigilucci's has been completely transformed into a more upscale dining experience with a hint of Spanish influence. Iberico Spanish Bistro and Gin Club is the first of its kind to grace the seaside community of La Jolla in San Diego.

A long list of tapas are designed to pair with specialty gin drinks that span beyond your average G&T. Why gin? Spain has been credited with reviving the gin trend in the early 1920s and, right now, gin bars are popping up all over Madrid and Barcelona.

However, sangria lovers can still order a glass of this classic Spanish drink to pair with paella and cured meats. Guests also rave about the reasonably priced Spanish wine and cava selection. In addition to a wall of wine glasses, exposed brick and chic blue chandeliers, the outdoor patio (complete with plenty of heaters) is a great place to enjoy a drink year-round.

A perfect time to try the new restaurant is by taking advantage of discounts available throughout the week. Happy hour occurs daily from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the lounge and bar. Tuesday is Gin Night, where gin drinks are half-priced from 7:00 p.m. until close, while Wednesday is half-priced bottle of wine. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Iberico offers happy hour from 7:00 p.m. until close in the bar and lounge.
