After a much-needed $180 million renovation that took 14 months, the new Westfield UTC opened on November 15 with Giuliana Rancic hosting the celebration in addition to a concert by Natasha Beddingfield. The overall feel of the mall has been changed by new fixtures, lighting and landscaping. The retail and lifestyle additions, however, have San Diego residents buzzing.
Kids in tow? After you park in the new designated family spaces, let little ones burn off steam at the re-vamped play area. “The Gardens," in partnership with San Diego Botanic Gardens, will provide an educational opportunity for children and adults alike, attracting hummingbirds and butterflies. Tired husband in tow? Send him to the family lounge with the kids while you spend more time in the dressing room.
In case Fido needs to come along, the mall has become much more pet-friendly. High and low drinking fountains are even available for dogs to quench their thirst!

New stores include San Diego's second Tiffany & Co., J. Crew, Splendid, VANS, Kiehl's, Art of Shaving and more. Tesla, the high-end electric car manufacturer, has selected Westfield UTC as their first-to-market showroom location. ArcLight Cinemas offer reserved, extra-wide seating for your movie viewing pleasure to give its competitor up north, Cinepolis, a run for the money.
Two new restaurants include Eureka! Burger, serving up gourmet burgers and craft beer in a warm atmosphere, and Seasons 52, a fresh grill and wine bar featuring a seasonally-inspired menu and international wine list.
Shop, dine and play at the new Westfield UTC versus rushing in and out, which is what most residents used to do.
