Puesto of San Diego is not your average Mexican restaurant. This fast-casual eatery, located in downtown La Jolla, specializes in guisados (grilled food) including fish, shrimp, carne asada, and chicken al pastor as well as gourmet vegetarian options. The soy chorizo may fool even the toughest carnivore.

Enter via Wall Street into a colorful dining area featuring original floor to ceiling murals by famed graffiti artist Chor Boogie. Grab a menu and walk up to the griddle to begin the magic. Every meal at Puesto is customized to suit the needs of each diner. First, decide if you'd like a taco, guisado bowl, or a salad. Next, pick a guisado. Add fruit or vegetable toppings and finish with dressing or salsa. Don't forget to order a side such as sweet corn, black beans or guisado veggies. Dine-in or take it home.

Puesto is committed to using only the finest ingredients and customers rave about the homemade, stone-ground corn tortillas. Salsas are made from scratch daily while vegetables are organic and locally sourced. Only all-natural meats and sustainable seafood are used.

Hailing from Mexico City originally, Executive Chef Luis Gonzalez has called San Diego home for the last 20 years. Prior to joining the Puesto team, he built his own catering business in San Diego solely based on referral. He started cooking with his grandmother at just 10 years old and hasn't stopped.

Puesto is also one of the most active restaurants in San Diego on social media. A constant stream of tweets and Instagram photos can be seen on the TV screens inside the restaurant as well as on their website. Follow Puesto online to see why this restaurant has enjoyed a steady stream of customers since opening day.
