Hotel Andaz San Diego has kicked it up a notch by sinking $1 million into renovations. The first phase, recently completed, included restyling of the hotel's lobby and entertainment spaces. The renowned rooftop area now has a retractable roof, providing shade from sun and shelter on the rare rainy days. The space has been aptly renamed RoofTop600 at Andaz.
"Andaz San Diego has been regarded as the trendsetter in the local market with our singular approach to service and style, and we're excited to change up the hotel's social spaces to give our local clients and visitors updated options," said Rusty Middleton, general manager at Andaz San Diego. "The new vibe on RoofTop600 at Andaz and upgrades we have in store are going to take our ambiance and guest experience to the next level."

With its panoramic views of downtown San Diego and hip vibe, the rooftop space has been a go-to spot for nightlife in San Diego for a while. Celebrity parties, wedding receptions, corporate gatherings and the city's most exclusive events have happened here around the stunning pool - or, sometimes, in the pool. If it's summer, that means you and all of your glamorous friends can host a fabulous pool party.
Now, the newly renovated space offers cabana beds and other plush outdoor seating, as well as two full-service bars that will serve up craft cocktails. High rollers may opt for bottle service. Look closely to find the hidden chef's garden and warm up next to a fire pit.
Of course, there's entertainment, and because it's a popular place, it helps to get your name on the guest list, which you can do online.

Other renovations on tap include new decor and furnishings in the lobby and beloved Andaz Wine Bar, where 88 wines from around the world flow from a high-tech tap delivery system. The hotel restaurants Katsuya and S+ARCK revamped their menus to reflect local flair and more approachable pricing.
Andaz San Diego is a hip, 159-room hotel with 17 suites. Guests who check in for an overnight stay receive a welcome drink, iPad check-in, complimentary WiFi and free local calls. The rooms are fitted with custom fixtures and amenities, flat-panel TVs and glass-enclosed bathrooms.
Why are we telling you about the rooms and other renovations? It's because needing a place to sleep after an evening at RoofTop600 at Andaz or the Andaz Wine Bar is totally not unheard of. In fact, we suggest it.
