Board a Pirate Reef boat and head up a 25-foot ramp, round a corner and plunge downward in between two dueling pirate ships with a giant splash. Meanwhile, your stomach is in knots and the innocent bystanders on the pirate ship are now also soaking wet. Serves them right, as they were likely blasting your boat with cannons.

LEGOLAND California opened Pirate Reef just in time for summer 2012. Of course, there are various LEGO figures featured throughout the ride: more than 30 figures made up of over 220,000 LEGOs. The plot revolves around the battle between Captain Red Brick and Captain Blue Brick. Boats splash through this battle.
Pirate Reef is available to riders who have tickets to either LEGOLAND or LEGOLAND Water Park. Guests of the latter are usually already in their bathing suits, so keep this in mind. Riders must be 36" tall to ride and be accompanied by someone who is at least 42" tall.
Ride Pirate Reef with the expectation that you're going to get wet. How wet? Well, it depends, but you'll enjoy it nonetheless. For $5, LEGOLAND has body dryers right near the Pirate Reef exit and, unless you're in a bathing suit, you may want to plan on using this convenience.
