Residents drive by the restored warehouse without realizing that inside, The Fishery is more than one of San Diego's best seafood restaurants. A small market counter offers gorgeous fish filets, clams and more to take home. All seafood is wild-caught, unless specified otherwise. Here are several of the best items to take with you.
Smoked fish: Choose between ahi, albacore, salmon or swordfish. The smoked fish is popular for a reason so call ahead if you're looking for a particular type. Unsure which you'd prefer? Ask the friendly staff--they may just give you a taste if they aren't busy. Serve with a cheese plater, on a bagel or alone.

Ceviche: Fill up a tub of fresh sea bass ceviche. The emphasis here in on the fish, but finely diced tomatoes and onions are sprinkled in. Serve with chips or crackers and sliced avocado. Some locals believe it's the best in town.
Wild Alaskan Salmon Party Platter: Entertaining guests? This is an entire poached salmon served with English cucumber, onion, dill creme sauce that can feed 15 people or more if served buffet style. Order it in advance, pick up on the day and let the compliments flow.
Prepared food: Grab some seafood-stuffed chile rellenos or crab cakes to cook at home. Pair with seaweed salad or cilantro coleslaw. Talk about a gourmet to-go order!

However, when you feel like eating out, The Fishery is a casual restaurant that the entire family will love. Don't forget to try the selection of "fish-friendly" wines.
