Brunch: in the wrong hands, it can be disastrous. Soggy pancakes, lukewarm scrambles, halfhearted sandwiches. We've all been there.
For something completely different (and completely delightful) in the Santa Barbara area, head to Outpost at The Goodland hotel.
Here, you'll find an exciting menu in a refreshing and relaxing setting; this meal's sure to set you up for an amazing day ahead.

Your first clue that Outpost knows what's up is their brunch cocktail menu. The fact that they have one at all, and that you can drink without judgment before noon, is a treat.
You can stick with the classics, like a bloody Mary, or order something new and exciting. The Red Snapper – made with gin, horseradish, caper and cranberry juice and then garnished with a smoked oyster – is unexpectedly delicious.

To eat, Outpost has a hearty mix of veggies, grains, eggs, sandwiches and plates. Their Market Benedict, made with a crab bernaise sauce, is a favorite.
For something rich and indulgent, try the hash made with pork belly and a soft-boiled egg.
If you're in the mood for something light or sweet, they have that, too. Start with a farro salad or a housemade pop tart.
Chef Derek Simcik helms the restaurant and changes the menu according to what's in season. So if you stop in, you might not find exactly these dishes, but we promise you will discover something equally tasty.

Brunch is only served on Saturday and Sunday, but Outpost serves dinner seven nights a week.
They also have a very generous happy hour Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Belly up to the bar for a specialty cocktail, mocktail or flight paired with ceviche, tacos and savory bao buns. Your stomach will be glad that you did!
Recently purchased and completely remodeled by Kimpton, The Goodland hotel is located in a quiet part of Goleta. Gorgeous interiors with a retro beach vibe and deluxe amenities (like poolside yoga and in-room vinyl) make it a dreamy destination for travelers looking to get away from it all.
Like all Kimpton hotels, The Goodland is pet friendly. So you can bring Fido and Fifi along.
While in Goleta, make sure you check out a few of the best bars and restaurants in the area.
Plus, Santa Barbara is just a short drive away for some urban wine tasting. And for something completely different, plan to spend an afternoon in the celebrity-favored neighborhood of Montecito.
