Situated on upper De La Vina Street, in a Santa Barbara neighborhood often referred to as "Uptown," The Daily Grind's new second location is poised for success. It's the only independent coffee shop for blocks and, better still, it's based on a successful model.
The Daily Grind's first location opened on the corner of Mission and De La Vina in 1995, and it has remained a popular local fixture ever since. The first shop was originally a Shell gas station. Now it's a warm and quirky joint where people from all walks of life come to mix and mingle . . . and get a jolt of caffeine!
It's the same story for the second location. After spending 40 years as a Taco Bell, the old brick building with iconic, arched windows has been reincarnated as another branch of the locally owned coffee shop. It's a rebirth that area residents have been looking forward to for months.

Nine varieties of coffee are brewed daily here. So whether you like your coffee strong, mild or somewhere in between, there's a concoction that's right for you. They also have cappuccinos, mochas and chais, of course. Their tea selection goes above and beyond weak, bagged fare. Choose a loose-leafed variety and let it steep for as long as you like.
In addition to coffee and tea, The Daily Grind offers fresh juices and custom-blended smoothies. Try the King Kong, a rich concoction of peanut butter, banana, chocolate, frozen yogurt and protein powder, or create your own by choosing two fruits and one juice. Supplements include bee pollen, ginseng, echinacea and other healthy additives.
For breakfast, make a selection from the appetizing pastry display, or order a bagel. Breakfast burritos are also frequently available and often reviewed as some of the best in Santa Barbara. A lunch menu offers a selection of salads and sandwiches. Vegetarians will love the hot portobello sandwich. And don't skip dessert - their espresso brownie is a treat not to be missed!
The Daily Grind has a cozy atmosphere. This coffee house is the perfect place for an informal mid-afternoon meeting, study session or date with friends. Free Wi-Fi is available, and many shops and restaurants are convenient to the area.
The Daily Grind makes a conscious effort to give back to the community by supporting various local schools, non-profit organizations, medical foundations and as many youth league sports as possible.
The new Daily Grind coffee shop is located at 2912 De La Vina St., just past the Ralph's shopping center and across the street from Trader Joe's. The Daily Grind is open seven days a week from 5:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. There's free parking on site.
