If you're visiting Santa Barbara and have a hankering for fresh produce, you're in luck. Just about every tasty fruit and vegetable under the sun grows in heaps and bushels around here, and one of the best places to take your pick of the local crops is Lane Farms, Santa Barbara's favorite produce stand.

The Lane family has been farming in the Santa Barbara & Goleta area since 1868. In 1939, their produce stand was erected on Walnut Lane, where it's done a bustling business ever since. The Lane family specializes in strawberries, tomatoes, squash, lettuce and sweet corn. Lane Farms practices sustainable and organic farming methods, ensuring that nothing but the best ends up on your table and in your stomach.

Wondering what's in season? Visit their website to see what's freshest whenever you're visiting. If you happen to be in Santa Barbara in October, seize the opportunity to visit Lane Farms' Pumpkin Patch and celebrate the fall harvest. In addition to every size and sort of pumpkin, the Lane Farms patch also features gourds, farm animals, a corn maze and hayrides. The corn maze is delightfully tricky, so be prepared to spend more than five minutes navigating your way out.

After Thanksgiving, Lane Farms becomes one of the area's largest Christmas tree lots. Several varieties of fresh fir trees are waiting here to find their holiday homes. You can also pick up lush, red poinsettias and festive holiday decorations.

Whatever the time of year, Lane Farms is a fun (and nutritious) trip for the whole family.
