Toronto, like any other city, can sometimes appear like a lot of closed doors. Due to a long winter, many people use the underground passages to get around and barely see the light of day, let alone their neighbours.
Then spring comes and by May, Toronto is abloom with flowering plants and green grass. Doors Open Toronto reverses the bad winter habits and throws open the doors for two days to some 150 buildings, most not ordinarily open to the public. The list of included buildings changes a bit each year, but has included the Canada Life building, the Distillery District and Old City Hall. In addition, the event organizes architectural tours, art exhibits at various spaces around the city and a Speaker's Series on current topics in design and architecture.
