German street food isn’t what you would typically expect to find in Vancouver’s Chinatown. Instead, you may think to head to the area for the freshly baked pineapple buns, mouth-watering BBQ pork or comforting congee. All of those things you will find in Chinatown. But you will also come across some new restaurants that offer something different to the area, such as Bestie.
Bestie serves up freshly made sausages and pretzels, amongst a few other dishes that are sure to satisfy. The menu is small, simple and straight to the point. One of the most popular items is their currywurst. An all-natural sausage is sliced up and served over fries with curried ketchup. Wonderbar!
There is a vegan/vegetarian sausage option for non-meat eaters who want to enjoy currywurst, too. The sausage and sauerkraut combo allows you to customize your order and choose from their list of sausages that include turkey, bison, pork and veggie.
Add a freshly baked pretzel (with mustard), pickled gherkins and a veggie dish, and your meal is almost complete. Sausages and pretzels wouldn't be the same without a cold brew, though, and Bestie has a solid selection of beer on tap and in bottles.
