Have you ever felt like you've been stuck in a dream that you can't get out of? While some may think that sounds like a nightmare, the folks at SmartyPantz Escape Rooms have made it an intellectually stimulating and fun experience for people of all ages.
Escape rooms seem to be popping up all over the place, but there are a number of things that set Vancouver's SmartyPantz apart from the rest.
To start, SmartyPantz has set up shop in what was once three buildings in historic Gastown, built between 1892 to 1915 – you can imagine the stories they would tell.
While the strong story lines set the stage, the impressive rooms and actors help bring everything to life. Many of the people behind the scenes, and your hosts, have a background in theater and film, so it's safe to say that you're in good hands here.
Don't worry if you're new to escape rooms, your hosts will help explain everything and guide you through the process.

Currently, there are five different rooms.
Have you ever felt that you’ve been stuck in a weird dream that you just can’t get out of? Well, now’s your chance to figure out how to escape the never-ending fantasy.
You’ll need at least eight (8) players to get yourself out of this psychedelic room as there are a number of riddles that must be solved. It’s the most challenging room, but the least frightening. Unless, you’ve got a fear of being stuck in a dream forever…
Morning Never Comes
It’s up to you to solve this paranormal investigation in an old, abandoned house. Rumor has it that a ghost haunts the study and no one makes it past midnight. Will you?
This room isn’t the toughest, so there’s a good chance you’ll make it out of there.
Sound the alarm! There’s been a mechanical failure on this barely refurbished Soviet submarine and the clock is ticking – and so is your oxygen supply. This is the most challenging of rooms and requires some quick thinking.
Thirst for Murder
Here you’ll find yourself in a serial killer’s basement and it’s up to you to figure out how to escape before he comes back. This is one of their more challenging (and scary) rooms so you may want to save this for last.
Spies & Lies
This World War II-themed private eye mystery has you on a special mission to break into a detective’s office to get some information, all the while going undetected before he returns. This room is great for families and provides a fun challenge.
You also won’t find locked doors here (claustrophobics, rejoice!) and you can leave the room at any time. But, know that once you leave the room, you can’t go back in.
Having a tough time solving a riddle? You can get up to two hints to help you along the way, but it’s really up to you to crack the code.
The escape rooms can accommodate between 4 and 15 people and you have 45 minutes to figure out the game. Times run throughout the day and into the evening so you’ve got options.
SmartyPantz is suitable for people of all ages and a great way to use your noggin while having a fun time.
