Granville Island attracts visitors and hungry shoppers year-round with its varying shops, producers, artisans and vendors. For much of the year, we don't get a chance to interact with the farmers themselves at the bustling stalls, but each summer and fall a pop up farmers market makes itself at home in the parking lot just outside of the Public Market.
Farmers markets are popular around Vancouver, but there's something special about the Granville Island farmers market because it reaches out to visitors in Vancouver that wouldn't normally stumble across one of these markets in their (temporary) neighborhood. The added bonus of this market is that the Public Market will be home to flowers you may need for a table setting, fresh seafood to wow your guests and palate, a wine shop to complete your meal and the fresh air Vancouverites love.

The farmers market runs from Thursday, June 7, 2012 - 9:00am - Thursday, October 25, 2012 - 3:00pm, meaning that you will be able to enjoy the fruits of BCs labor for a few seasons. Enjoy fresh produce like BC berries, local oven baked bread, gourmet sauces, olives, sweet treats, fresh pastas, vegetables, soup, gorgeous salts, seasonings, oils, cereals, plants and thirst quenching drinks.
The vendors in these farmers markets are not only knowledgeable about the items you're purchasing, but they have likely had a major contribution in growing, making and creating them. Who better to ask about the product than the source? On a sunny day, enjoying Granville Island is a pleasure and the farmers market is another added bonus that makes Granville Island and Vancouver that much more enjoyable.
