Vancouver is the birthplace to one of North America’s top yoga and athletic apparel companies – lululemon athletica – and it’s really no surprise, considering the city is known for its outdoorsy pursuits. Whether you’re hitting the trails along the North Shore, pounding pavement around the Seawall or stretching it all out in a yoga class, having the right gear to sweat in is important.
lululemon athletica's first store popped up in Kitsilano in 1998, and over the years they've seen tremendous growth. More stores have been popping up around the globe. Recently, they opened a flagship store on the corner of Burrard and Robson (970 Robson St.), and it's their largest store yet.

It’s safe to say that it was one of the city’s busiest and most talked about store openings this year. lululemon’s new neighbors are the mega-size Victoria’s Secret, L’Occitane’s new (and very large) location and Roots Canada.
This much sought after location was designed with plenty of thought and a strong desire to really evoke what Vancouver is all about. With this in mind, nature, yoga and local art each have their place here.
Throughout the 4,500-square-foot space, there are elements of wood and stone to bring out features of the forests that surround the city. The space itself is a giant circle that pays homage to the yin and yang philosophy.
There are a few cool features this location offers, and it’s also where they will be testing “retail innovations." New to the scene is The Joinery, where men can customize the function of their workout shorts and then have them made on-site in a 10- to 15-minute process. This store has a large area dedicated just to men, but there's definitely no shortage of women's gear here.
Change rooms are fitted with screens that display product information and help guests learn more about the fit and function of each item.
No need to line-up here! Another new feature they have added is portable cashiers to process your payment throughout the store.
An added bonus? This location is about a three-minute walk to the closest yoga studio and a 10-minute walk from the Seawall. So if you’re feeling super motivated after treating yourself to some new workout gear, putting it to use is literally within arm’s reach.
Whether you're a runner, yogi, dancer, indoor cyclist or anything in between, lululemon athletica is the place to go when you're in Vancouver for athletic apparel.
