Virgin Airways is renowned for impeccable service, attention to detail and a leader in technology amongst their fellow airline companies. If Vancouverites wanted to fly Virgin, they would have to drive down to Seattle and hop on one of the sought after flights. As of May 2012, things have changed and Virgin has launched their first flights in Canada and Vancouver is the lucky city.

Direct flights from Vancouver's YVR International Airport to London, UK four times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. The flight is around nine hours and if the in-flight movie selection and laptop charging ability isn't enough to keep you entertained, Virgin will be launching the ability to pick up your cell phone at t 35,000 feet and make a phone call via a satellite system. Time are-a-changing, people!
Hate only having two options for you meal in economy class? Virgin Atlantic will now be offering the choice of three meals to choose from, and if you're lucky enough to be sitting in "Upper Class", your drink will be chilled by Sir Richard Branson's head. The eccentric mogul had an exact replica (ice cube size) of his face made into ice cube trays so that he could enjoy the flight with you.
It's hard to say if Vancouver was more excited to have Sir Richard Branson in town for the launch, or for Virgin Atlantic calling YVR home.
