About Gastown
Named after "Gassy" Jack Deighton, a seaman from the UK, Gastown is Vancouver's most historic neighborhood and dates back to 1867. It's here that you'll find cobble stone walkways and stunning architecture that set the stage for some of Vancouver's best shopping, restaurants and cafes.
See & Do
From an old morgue that's now a police museum to a musical steam clock that's picture perfect, Gastown's attractions are steeped in history. One of the best ways to see all that Gastown has to offer is by taking advantage of one of the walking tours in the neighborhood. An added bonus? The area is small enough to easily explore in an afternoon.
Eat
Gastown has quickly become one of Vancouver's most popular neighborhoods and the restaurants in the area play a big role. From cool and casual cafes to chic and elegant restaurants, Gastown has a vibrant selection of excellent joints to choose from. The cocktail scene in this hood is strong and if there's a wait at a restaurant, chances are you can grab a drink nearby while you wait for your table.
Party
When the sun sets, the buzz in Gastown grows. Here you'll find delicious cocktails that are the perfect pre-dance sipper, a wide selection of import and craft beer to enjoy while you watch the game, live music to chill out to and a handful of dance floors where you can make yourself at home. From mellow to lively, there's something for everyone here.
Shop
If you're looking for one-of-a-kind pieces, Gastown is the place to go. From incredible shoes to beautiful clothing, the selection here is some of the best in the city. It doesn't end at clothing and shoes–home decor and furniture stores are plentiful, and there are a number of art galleries to complete any space.
