After renting your cruiser bikes on downtown Pearl Street (These bikes are conveniently parked all along the downtown area and can be rented by the hour or day with your credit card.), take 13th Street to the Boulder County Farmers' Market.
Dismount and walk your bike through the market, as you take in the sights and sounds of local bluegrass music and colorful produce. Be sure to stop for samples, and if you brought a backpack, make some purchases with "Market Bucks" - vouchers that can be bought with a credit card and used in the market.

Once you've had your fill of the local fare, continue down the bike path past Boulder High School and Scott Carpenter Park. Stopping at the park is encouraged. There you can eat your market goodies and take in a spectacular view of the Flatirons.
Continuing toward Foothills Parkway. Taking the Arapahoe underpass, you'll emerge in east Boulder, where a quick jaunt through Eisenhower neighborhood will link you up with the South Boulder Creek Trail, where you'll ride through a dramatic open space on your way to the Baseline underpass.
Here, the trail meets up with Bobolink Trailhead, and the fun really begins. Riding south, you'll hit a paved bike-way, which winds through green cow pastures on your left and the creek with a mountain view on your right. The trail will eventually turn into dirt and gravel, with a few fun bumps along the way. Your cruiser bikes will be just fine as long as you don't take it too fast.
Push on to the South Boulder Road underpass and bear left on your way to Cherry Vail Open Space, where you'll encounter magnificent views, not only of the Flatirons and the Boulder skyline but also Longs Peak, Rocky Mountain National Park's only 14,000-foot mountain. Here, you can turn north on Cherry Vail Road and take the bike lane back to Arapahoe Road, where you can connect up with the Boulder Creek Path and return downtown.
This gorgeous, family-friendly ride is a moderate 16 miles round trip and will take you about four to six hours to bike, depending on how much time you spend at the market, picnicking and enjoying the sights.
