When asked what inspired her to open such a unique space, owner Sheena Ferguson, told 10Best:
"The Bluegrass was created as a spot for everyone to feel welcomed and cozy from morning to night. I'm from Kentucky and wanted to bring southern hospitality to Colorado, along with great coffee, bourbon and pizza. Simple, well-executed goodness. I was born and raised in the restaurant industry, and have worked almost every position imaginable in various restaurants.
"I did all of the artwork in the Bluegrass (the horses, the bathroom art, the derby lady) and I also designed all of the interior. Our back bar is made of bourbon barrels that we had broken down, we have 2 Kentucky shaped tables, our bar is made from Kentucky barn wood. We really wanted to stay true-to-theme and be an inviting place for everyone."
Tucked away and utterly charming, The Bluegrass invites visitors to lounge in comfy orange chairs, sit and sip bourbon at its elegant copper bar or grab a bite at a table while admiring the vintage-style lighting and larger-than-life equestrian artwork.
Whether you're stopping in during lunch to enjoy a pizza or working hard on your computer while downing caffeinated beverages, this swanky yet approachable lounge delivers.
Signature cocktails make for delicious treats. One house favorite is The Bourbon Ball, made with Buffalo Trace bourbon cream, hazelnut liqueur and creme de cacao. For those who like their cocktails tart and refreshing, the William Tell Mimosa made with apple whiskey, tart cherry liqueur, and Prosecco is sure to be invigorating and delightful.

For a heartier meal, share a bluegrass pizza, or have one all to yourself. The Seabiscuit, topped with goat cheese, artichokes, pesto, spinach, mozzarella and basil, is a healthy and fresh option. For something a bit more sinful, the Real Quiet invites you to sink your teeth into savory sausage, mushrooms and black olives.
This magical time of day lasts from 3pm-6pm and features $5 garlic knots, $5 10" pizzas and $4 drink specials which include house red or white wine, Bulleit Bourbon or Bulleit Rye, draft beer and a variety of mint juleps.
As the name suggests, The Bluegrass often features live music, inviting an eclectic mix of musicians to perform three to four days a week. Some genres you can expect to hear include bluegrass, country, Americana, blues and folk.
