To keep locals and visitors happy on game days, there are a variety of establishments ready to switch on the big game, sling hot-wings, and keep the beer coming. At the top of our list, 28th Street Tavern is the place many go to escape the "college scene" and just hang with the locals. Free ping-pong keeps half-time interesting and drink specials abound. This dive bar is a great break from some of the more polished joints in town. 

If you're looking for a bar with amazing rooftop seating, dozens of tvs, that can also accommodate large parties on game day, The Lazy Dog Sports Bar is your go-to. Located on Pearl Street, it's a great place to watch the entire game or end-up after bar-hopping. 

Wanna get away from the downtown area but still keep the fun and local vibe? Try Harpo's Sports Bar and Grill, a Boulder favorite, boasting killer burgers. If you'd rather stuff your face with pizza on game day, then Boulder's beloved Backcountry Pizza and Taphouse is the place for you and your crew.

Bohemian Biergarten is a new, hip, and unique bar in downtown Boulder featuring German-style food, beer, and atmosphere. The main room and bar area offers long, picnic style tables which allow for large groups to eat, drink, and be merry. Speaking of eating, the Biergarten serves hardy, delicious German food such as a verity of sausage and meats and beer pretzels. Need a rowdy place to watch soccer? The Biergarten, true to its European heritage, shows soccer games all season with plenty of fans to celebrate or cry with. Biergarten is also located in the heart of downtown, in close proximity to entertainment and shopping.

With two locations just 20 minutes from Boulder in Lyons and Longmont, this local brew-pub favorite if one of the best places around to grab a delicious burger, beer, and dance the night away. The Tasty Weasel taproom boasts a large dance floor and stage on the second floor of the building so that you can eat down below and then enjoy the after-party up above. Local live bands as well as national known acts play every Saturday and Sunday at a minor cover charge. The Chicken Parmesan and Meatball Sub are both excellent options for those who like traditional Italian, and for those who'd like to go the more adventurous route, The Hot Mob: ham, salami, pepperoni, lettuce, tomatoes, provolone, and Italian dressing. Our personal favorite, the Nediterranean, blends pesto & red sauce, pine nuts, garlic, roasted red peppers, artichokes, kalamata olives, feta to create one of the most hearty and mouthwatering pizzas in the west.


The Dark Horse Bar and Grill


Popular culture is the theme of the decor at this popular landmark. Movie memorabilia, big screen TV's, pool tables, air hockey, foosball, and video games dominate the space. A wide assortment of microbrews is available. The typically American menu includes burgers, sandwiches, fish and chips, and Tex-Mex. The Avocado Burger is sure to satisfy, especially if it's washed back with a pint of local beer. Pool tables are available after who've downed a few pints and finished off your pub-grub. Their downtown location with a rooftop view is a spacious venue for dancing while marveling at the twinkling lights of Boulder. A hang-out for people of all ages, but you will generally find a younger, pup-crawlin', crowd later in the evening. Music genres range from bluegrass and classic rock, to punk and indie rock, so you are sure to hear a tune perfect for tappin' your toes.
