The Mile High City toasts its thriving microbrew culture in two annual beer events. Start with the 9-day celebration of beer, the Denver Beer Fest from October 5-13, 2012. The Denver Beer Fest was created by VISIT DENVER to offer more beer-themed events to the more than 50,000 beer lovers attending the ultimate beer tasting event, The Great American Beer Festival (GABF), October 11-13. Brewer of more beer than any other U.S. city, Denver is the perfect destination for beer connoisseurs to explore the beer culture of the Mile High City during the annual Denver Beer Fest from October 5-13. The Denver Beer Fest returns for its fourth year with plenty of opportunities to lift your beer mug. All events are listed on the official Denver Beer Fest site, including Meet the Brewer Nights to beer-paired dinners, firkin nights and brewer competitions. The Denver Beer Fest will also host its first “official Denver Beer Crawl.”Cheers to Wynkoop Brewing Company — Photo courtesy of Wynkoop Brewing Company
The Great American Beer Festival (GABF) also returns to Denver, from October 11-13. The sold-out annual show welcomes 50,000 beer lovers toasting 580 breweries serving 2,700 varieties of beer.
USA Today recently picked Denver as one of the “Top 10 Beer Cities in the World,” but beer isn’t new to the Mile High City. Denver’s brew industry dates back to 1873 when German immigran Adolph Coors founded the world’s largest single brewery using Rocky Mountain spring water. If you miss the Denver Beer Fest and GABF festivals, don’t worry! You can still get a sample of Rocky Mountain brew by taking the free Miller-Coors Golden Brewery Tour at Miller-Coors Brew Tour.
