In addition to its Denver city York Street holiday illumination event, Denver Botanic Gardens also creates a more rustic extravaganza of lights each year at its Chatfield Farms facility in Littleton. The winding trail through the Colorado countryside includes a stunning 60-foot cottonwood tree with more than 35,000 lights, illuminated antique and model tractors, light tunnels, an enchanted forest, animal light sculptures and grand insect light sculptures in the Lavender Garden. As always, there's a warming hut and fire pit as well as hot drinks and delicious treats to keep visitors warm and satisfied during the evening event. Visitors can add on hayrides on Friday and Saturday for an extra $2 per person.

- Holiday Attractions: "Dress for warmth. It can be about 10 degrees cooler at Chatfield Farms than in Denver."
- Best for Holiday Attractions Because: Chatfield Farms offers a more rustic landscape for the Botanic Gardens' illumination extravaganza, a nice pairing to the York Street lights. Visitors should see both.
