The art world of Costa Rica is excited to present, for the first time, the art of Chilean graphic artist Nemesio Antúnez. In a show entitled “Nemesio Antúnez: obra gráfica,” El Museo de Arte Costarricense (MAC) presents, along with the Chilean Embassy in Costa Rica, three dozen works, all on loan from the collection Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes de Chile (MNBA). The works are part of a 99-piece collection donated by the widow of the artist, Patricia Velasco. Photo courtesy of Museo De Arte Costarricense
It's been twenty years since the death of Antúnez, and Costa Rica is the second country to receive the exhibit since then; the first was Colombia, and next year it will travel to Nicaragua, Venezuela, Ecuador and Argentina, where it will finish in July of 2014.
The exhibit on display corresponds to the five decades of graphic works produced by the artist, reuniting different themes and techniques that were clearly dominating his style: the people around him, nature and the daily human condition.
“Nemesio Antúnez: obra gráfica”will be open to the public at MAC, from the 19th of September until the 27th of October in 2013, from Tuesday through Sunday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Entrance is free.
