Tree House Lodge lies along one of Costa Rica's most pristine stretches of Caribbean coast on Punta Uva Beach, four kilometers south of Puerto Viejo de Limon. While great for small groups of friends and families, Tree House Lodge appeals especially to couples looking for an unforgettable vacation experience that might just be the world's most romantic holiday.
Surrounded by old-growth trees, the original Tree House is built on stilts and has a suspension bridge that leads to its front door. It's a dwelling straight from your childhood fantasies, only this one features furniture hand-carved from sustainable wood and a very cool bathroom. The toilet has been built into the trunk of a 100-year-old Sangrillo tree. The Tree House is plenty big enough for a family, with two bedrooms in a split-level design. But it's also a cozy stay for couples.
The Garden House is built almost entirely from bamboo and features an outdoor Jacuzzi. Though it sleeps up to four people, it's a perfect hideaway for two.
Just 80 meters from the shoreline, the Beach House allows you to watch the waves roll in from the comfort of the master bedroom. This split-level abode with an open-plan design was built almost entirely from fallen loquat trees. This house features a spiral wooden staircases that rises through the center.

The more expansive Beach Suite has soaring wood beams and ceiling fans above queen- and king-sized beds in its three double bedrooms. Space-age-style bathrooms are an architectural highlight, and a Jacuzzi in the middle adds to the fun.
Guests at these gorgeous vacation houses have access to the entire 10 acres that Tree House Lodge sits upon, all of which is part of the Gandoca-Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge. You'll enjoy near total seclusion if you want it, or you can step outside and commune with a multitude of species that inhabit the tropical rainforest and the lodge's botanical garden.
Rates for two start at $200 per night, and breakfast is included for the first morning of your stay. Each house comes equipped with solar-heated hot water and kitchenettes for self-catering.
Tree House Lodge is located four hours from the capital city of San Jose and the SJO International Airport. Transportation is by rental car, bus or private taxi.
More information about making reservations and getting to the lodge can be found at the Tree House Lodge website.
