About Heredia

The small city of Heredia, Costa Rica, lies just 10 km north of San Jose at the foothills of the dormant Brava Volcano. Recognized for its colonial architecture, impressive churches, and rich coffee, Heredia is nicknamed “City of Flowers.” Located in the fertile Central Valley, Heredia is an ideal base for exploring the rest of Costa Rica.
See & Do
Heredia is one of the most historical cities in Costa Rica and features remarkable colonial architecture. In the heart of the city, surrounding the main square, which is a popular gathering place, is Heredia’s historic La Inmaculada Concepcion, a majestic church built in 1796, with bells imported all the way from Cuzco, Peru. A tour of Cafe Britt's coffee plantation is nice introduction to Heredia and covers transportation to and from San Jose.
Party
Heredia, Costa Rica is home to several colleges and universities, so there is more nightlife here than in most other Central Valley neighborhoods. The Miraflores Disco Club has been a hotspot for more than forty years, and the iconic dance club opens its doors after 9pm and keeps the party going until sunrise.
Shop
On site at Cafe Britt's coffee plantation in Heredia, Costa Rica is a Cafe Britt Gift Shop, fully stocked with local handicrafts, sustainable souvenirs, and of course, Cafe Britt Coffee. While you don't necessarily have to take the tour of the farm to shop in the gift shop, the tour ends with a visit to it, and it offers shipping back home so you don't have to lug your loot around on vacation.
