A hot new restaurant has just opened in Washington, DC's burgeoning 14th Street corridor near Logan Circle. Named the Drafting Table, this modern gastropub offers copious amounts of beer and comfort food in a relaxed setting.

A quick look at the menu makes the case that these are old fashioned dishes turned on their heads with new, modern twists. Take the basic cheeseburger. At Drafting Table, it doesn't just come with cheese, but with a crispy blue cheese, apricot chutney and onion jam. An egg sandwich is served topped with aioli, roasted red peppers, arugula and prosciutto.
Drafting Table has 16 beers on draft and another 20 in bottles. Draft beers include classics like Guinnesss and Anchor Steam, but you'll also find a Flying Dog Raging Bitch Belgium Style IPA and a Dales Pale Ale.

The restaurant is the brainchild of Aaron Gordon, who owns several other eateries around town. This is his first full-service sit down site and he's tapped Ciji Wagner as his executive chef. Wagner's background is as a pastry chef, and she has brought the fun of pastries to the entire Drafting Table menu, where fun is a key word in the restaurant's mission.
Perhaps its this background that has led to such silly sounding, but surely delicious, desserts as Snickers Pie and Grilled Stickies a la mode. Sounds like the Drafting Table is going to be a sweet success.
