Chocolate? So yesterday. Vanilla? No way. Strawberry? Get out. When it comes to a sweet snack or a delicious dessert, Washingtonians in the know turn to the chilly treats found at Dolcezza, D.C.'s premier artisan gelato shop. And there's no better time to try it than this fall and winter as the gelato genius behind Dolcezza is introducing three of the most unique flavors you'll find anywhere in the world.

Robb Duncan, a sort of Willie Wonka in the gelato world, is unveiling two new sorbettos and a new gelato in early November. Check out these flavors: a Cucumber Tarragon Gin sorbetto featuring Green Hat gin, a Thai Basil Jalapeño sorbetto made with Gordys Pickles, and a Penn Quarter Porter gelato with the heady D.C. Brau as one of the ingredients.

Rather than attend a school in Italy, Duncan and his wife, Violeta Edelman, studied the intricate methods and recipes for creating artisan gelati and sorbetti while in Buenos Aires. Perhaps that unusual backstory is one part of why the dynamic duo enjoys experimenting with exotic flavors and using a wide variety of unexpected ingredients. Add in their support for local farmers by locally sourcing many of their ingredients and one can see why the cold creations at Dolcezza are unlike those found anywhere else.
The new flavors will be sold at all three Dolcezza locations in the D.C. area – Georgetown, Dupont Cicle and Bethesda.
