If you're a history or Civil War buff, be sure to plan a visit to Ball's Bluff. The park includes an interpreted trail that leads to one of the Civil War battle sites that spelled doom for many of the Union troops. The premises also include a national cemetery, bearing the distinction of being the country's smallest one, holding the remains of about 54 Union troops. Visit weekends May through October to take advantage of the personally guided tours.
