Claude Moore Park is the perfect destination for both history lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. It has scores of hiking trails, an indoor lap pool, another kids' indoor pool with a two-story waterslide, sportsplex, visitor center and picnic facilities on over 357 acres that include ponds, forests and meadows. The land within the park was once used by Native Americans and then became a major travel route for early settlers traveling between Alexandria and the Shenandoah Valley. In fact, George Washington is known to have brought troops here on his way to his Mount Vernon home. The property also includes the historic Lanesville House that dates to the 1700s.
