On the quieter west side of Las Olas Boulevard just past Downtown Fort Lauderdale, past the shops and boutiques and very near the Broward Center For The Performing Arts, and the more residential side, has appeared a new restaurant that is drawing a following not just for the amazing food, but also for the charming, classic atmosphere.
The Chimney House Grill & Cafe, a Latin-American Spanish grill at the corner of West Las Olas and SW 7th Avenue in the historic Sailboat Bend, recently opened its doors and its menu to the delight of patrons. Situated in a charming older house built in the early part of the last century, this welcoming restaurant with a wood-burning fireplace, as well as pleasant outdoor seating, has an extensive menu offering tapas, expertly prepared ceviches and salads that can be a meal in themselves, as well as mouth-watering main dishes.
The Chimney House offers classic favorites with a twist of their own such as grilled skirt steak la chimenea, the very delicious lomo satado which is stir-fried steak strips, onions, tomato and soy sauce, with fries. Incredible! If your choice is chicken instead, ask for the scrumptious pollo satado, or one of the many other offerings.
Lunches can be just as satisfying with a list of sandwiches including the gaucho steak sandwich and sandwich cubano, or the blackened fish tacos, or everyone's favorite: oven roasted turkey breast sandwich, which consists of generous slices of breast meat with cranberry marmalade, Swiss cheese and a touch of house mayo. A true taste of Thanksgiving anytime!
The Chimney House Grill & Cafe offers an extensive list of beer and wine selections and tempting desserts. No reservations are necessary. Make plans to visit this not-so-traveled part of Las Olas and you'll find your new favorite!
