Stonewall National Museum & Archives

What better place than Fort Lauderdale and the adjoining island city of Wilton Manors, Florida, just north of Downtown, to claim the Stonewall National Museum & Archives, which shares and implements LGBT inclusive policies and practices through a national network of educators. This South Florida treasure is a testament to the rise of the gay and lesbian community and the change of hearts of many toward it. There was a time, not too long ago, when such openly-gay lifestyles and options was simply not a possibility, and largely prohibited as it is in many places of the world even today. With an important mission to promote understanding through the preserving and sharing of the proud culture of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people and to present the significant role they have made to society at large, these facilities are open to the public and certainly compliment the very accepting and diverse South Florida.
