Husband-and wife-team, Adam Russell and Kelly Lever established Key West Pottery in 2010 on Truman Avenue in the artist-filled island of Key West. Their works capture the essence of coastal living on the carefree island with pieces displaying roosters, tropical flowers, conch houses, lizards, and sunsets. Sporting some lovely “locks,” Adam calls himself the Rastaman potter and invites both young and old to learn the craft at their gallery. It makes a great stop – rain or shine – and may just be the highlight of your Key West vacation.A field trip to Key West Pottery — Photo courtesy of Key West Pottery
You may spot them driving around the colorful pottery van or creating their art on the sidewalk in front of the shop, enticing visitors to take a look inside. Local and tourists can take hour-and-a half long pottery classes and paint their own pottery to take home with them. At $50 per person, the sticker shock seems a bit much but the experience of creating your own work of art is far worth it. The shop also sells functional works like coffee mugs, plates and other kitchen ware, vases, and tea pots as well as some giant tropical fish that are just for fun. They also host local artists' nights that are full of creative energy.Honest Works Pottery Studio — Photo courtesy of Honest Works Pottery
