An enjoyable shopping experience doesn’t mean nabbing that sale item, or finding that special something you’ve been seeking for ages. Sometimes, you don’t have to spend a dime – which is the case with World Wide Sportsman. Yes, it’s a sports and fishing supply store but after all, Islamorada is the “fishing capital of the world.”World Wide SportsmanWorld Wide Sportsman — Photo courtesy of joshandjoetravels.blogspot.com

For those that find themselves out on the water when tackle becomes lost or equipment breaks, this place has it all: GPS systems, hooks, poles, reels, bait - you name it. There is also plenty to keep the family occupied as you shop for replacements. The store also has rain gear, snorkels and fins, bathing suits, sunglasses, sandals, and casual Keys' wear.

Around 1pm the staff feeds Tarpon and Snook in a sizeable saltwater tank, or shoppers can wander the waterfront marina, art gallery, and outdoor library. No detail is overlooked: a replica of Hemingway’s boat is the centerpiece of the store and even the even the parking spaces are lined with fish.A replica of Hemingway's shipA replica of Hemingway's ship — Photo courtesy of FloridaKeysnews.info

On the second floor, catch the sunset at Zane Grey while sipping on a Key Lime martini. The restaurant and lounge makes an amiable break after shopping, and serves seafood appetizers, sandwiches, and salads.  Full of historical memorabilia, the Zane Grey offers happy hour and dining specials as well as live music (most nights), and bonfires during the winter months.
