It doesn’t take much convincing to try out the Boathouse, the new seafood joint in Key West’s historic harbor: a quick mention of their Happy Hour specials will do the job. The Boathouse is a venture from the Commodore Waterfront Restaurant (located upstairs) and has a breezy waterfront location. It's a perfect spot after a day spent milling around Duval Street.

Appetizers and draft beers are half off during happy hour (from 4 to 6:30 pm), making it easy to sample a few. Try the Boathouse bread, a delicious combination of herbs and cheese that is out of this world, but there are several other appetizers that aren’t your usual spinach and artichoke dip. Selections include beer-battered shrimp, beef kabobs, coconut shrimp, conch fritters and lobster tempura with mango sauce. Beyond the appetizers, they also have ahi tuna salad, fish sandwiches with key lime tartar sauce and juicy hamburgers – to name a few.
The ambiance is laid back and casual, but the bar and grill vibe also means it gets a little noisy. However, with its incredibly low prices and quality menu items, the Boathouse is quickly becoming a new favorite happy hour destination.
